1/ NEWS from our ongoing battle for Silicon Valley diversity data: A bunch more tech companies – including @palantirtech & @pandoramusic – are disclosing their numbers and dropping their argument that diversity is a trade secret.

Our lawsuit: documentcloud.org/documents/6393…
2/ Background: We’re suing the U.S. Department of Labor, which collects diversity stats from federal contractors but keeps them secret. revealnews.org/blog/same-data…
3/ The government relies on arguments from companies such as @oracle, @fitbit and @box that the number of women and people of color they employ is highly sensitive info that must not be disclosed.
4/ We already won Round 1: Last year, the feds coughed up some old diversity data for Oracle and Palantir, showing some not-too-impressive numbers: revealnews.org/article/oracle…

Then the government turned around and blocked our request for more recent data.
5/ But the argument that diversity – or lack thereof – should be secret just suffered a new blow.

Ten more companies dropped their claims of confidentiality and agreed to release their numbers.

We're making all this data public.

6/ This is just the latest. Many other companies have also released their numbers in response to our reporting.

When we told @PayPal we were preparing a story, it promised to post its data within 24 hours: revealnews.org/blog/we-sued-t…
7/ Also: After we pointed out that “Palo Alto Networks has so little diversity among top executives that its CEO and president are both white men named Mark”... the company changed up its management team and released its data. revealnews.org/article/11-men…
8/ And @SlackHQ also released official diversity numbers for the first time after we pointed out flaws in its diversity reporting: revealnews.org/blog/slack-rel…
9/ It all adds to the clearest picture of Silicon Valley diversity yet: revealnews.org/article/heres-…
10/ Yet the question remains: If diversity stats are no longer confidential for Palantir, PayPal and Pandora, why are Oracle, Fitbit and others still fighting so hard to keep them secret?
11/ If you want to stay up-to-date on this lawsuit and all the info that comes out of it, the best place to do that is our newsletter: revealnews.org/newsletter
12/ Oh, one more thing: You can use the diversity data we've collected so far – or add to it on our Github – right here: github.com/cirlabs/Silico…
