In the Biblical view of nature, man has dominion over the world. Plus animals have "no soul."

And with "judgement day" it is all coming to an end soon anyway.

So the kind of economic models it generates naturally leads to disbalance and destruction.
The obsession of unlimited growth comes from the mechanistic model of the world. In the Indic model, atman is unlimited. Senses are limited. Unlimited desire can never be satisfied by limited senses. Mumukshatva, the quest for Moksha, tempers desire.

But India is stuck in the same game due to (1) the colonial state, (2) "secular" education and, most importantly (3), the global power structure.

A global power structure based on economic dominance forces everyone to play the game. If you don't compete, you'll be powerless.
Because secular education does not teach about liberation nor freedom from desire which is the core of Hindu-Buddhist teachings. (Which are not "religions" but quests to understand the nature of existence and how to be in harmony with it).
