Look I’m not saying the blame is on @US_FDA. But it absolutely is. Coincidence that @JUULvapor appeared on the market in 2017. This could have been regulated like in the UK ( Nicotine caps, marketing standards, age verification ) but they drug their feet and did nothing.
And @US_FDA has STILL done nothing but cater to and eliminate the competition of, THE EXACT PRODUCT that “youths” are initiating with. Yet support the elimination of products that ADULTS purchase from ADULT vape shops.
Our old friend @SGottliebFDA came in right around then as well to announced the epidemic and then did ZERO to address it. Well... other than extend the PMTA deadline to 2022, then suddenly move it back again to 2020 #movingthegoalpost
As it stands our own @Surgeon_General refuses to communicate to the public the overwhelming health benefits of smokers switching to less harmful #vapor products.
Those in power have done everything they can to exacerbate youth use, misinform the public on the relative risks of vapor products and made it impossibly difficult for responsible vendors to comply with their unclear regulations and pathways.
Smoking is STILL the leading cause of preventable death in our country. It is also unfortunately one of the largest revenue sources for states like CA, MI, NY, NJ and Illinois thanks to the #msabloodmoney
Any action taken by @US_FDA @FDACommissioner @SecAzar or @realDonaldTrump is simply a dog and pony show. It is not being taken to protect public health. It’s being taken because #vaping is disrupting everything and politicians don’t like having their money messed with.
