@ProvMagazine This has been one of the key questions and dilemmas of recent years, and I've heard it time and time again: as bad as dictators may be, at least they're good for Christians and other religious minorities. But are they really?
It's not necessarily a bad or silly argument. There's actually quite a bit in the political science literature that lends itself to arguments that democracy can only come after other things come first

The more I get through George Packer's 'Our Man,' the more I'm reminded of just how bad Democratic administrations have been on foreign policy. Of course, Republican administrations have often been as bad or worse. (Which makes for a rather depressing recored overall)
This is perhaps not what others will get from the book, but it's striking to me just how damaging the 8 years of Bill Clinton's foreign policy were: Tragedy mixed with missed opportunities and a unique misreading of the moment and what it required

@aminterest However controversial, this argument is worth contending with. (It doesn't seem to me like it should be *that* controversial but my gauge on this stuff is, I've come to realize, a bit different)

- 50% of registered voters support impeaching POTUS. 39% oppose. !! +11 is up from -12 in July. !!
- 36% of Indies and 11% of Reps support impeachment

- 51% of RVs support impeachment AND removal from office, 39% oppose
- 67% of registered voters say that “abuse of power” warrants removal from office
- 68% of RVs say the same about obstruction of justice
- 71% of RVs say that perjury warrants removal

Bethany Services is linked to Betsy DeVos and has been involved in abuses of kids, and has disturbing anti-LGBTQ policies. This is not a good agency for any children to be housed by, but has numerous sites nationally.

Let's start here: Dan Rather does a good job summarizing the Sinclair propaganda facet of Trump's authoritarian regime.
Rump's authoritarian behavior includes subverting democracy, failure to be transparent, failure to be accountable, nepotism, cronyism, and many dimensions of financial corruption.
Trump's authoritarianism includes thwarting the will of congress, obstructing the protection of the environment, and putting property & people & planet at unprecedented risk.
