MULTIDIMENSIONAL POVERTY is not the new buzz word, it is the holistic approach by which the concept of #poverty is measured.

Your President
Your Governors
Your Lawmakers
Your Ministers
Your Commissioners
Your Special Advisers

...should pay attention to it

#Thread
Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) measures #Poverty on three general dimensions:

1. Health
2. Education
3. Living Standards

These 3 dimensions are further broken down into 10 Indicators that are easily measurable.
The Ten MPI Indicators:
1 Nutrition
2 Child Mortality
3 Years of Schooling
4 School Attendance
5 Cooking Fuel
6 Sanitation
7 Water
8 Electricity
9 Floor
10 Asset

The Sustainable Development Goals #SDGs provide direction on how to implement measures to reduce poverty.
All the Ten Indicators mentioned are directly captured under the #SDGs as:

Goal 1: End Poverty

Goal 2: End Hunger

Goal 3: Health & Well-being

Goal 4: Quality Education

Goal 6: Water & Sanitation

Goal 7: Modern Energy

Goal 8: Descent Work & Economic Growth
How can Nigeria achieve the #SDGs & ultimately reduce the number of Nigerians affected with Multidimensional Poverty?

1. Establish an SDGs Office

2. Appoint a competent SDGs Manager

3. Align Budgets with #SDGs

4. Implement Projects to achieve #SDGs

5. Monitoring & Reporting
Reducing the number of Nigerians affected with Multidimensional Poverty & achieving the #SDGs should be a top priority for the Federal and the State Governments.

There are evidence to suggest the FG and some State Governments have taken some of the 5 Steps above.
The FG has an Office of SDGs under the Presidency, with presence on Twitter @ossap_sdgs.

Also with evidence of allocations to #SDGs in the 2019 & previous Budgets.

The FG has also aligned some of its Projects to achieving the #SDGs as captured in the #ERGP.

One more thing...
The FG must then Monitor & Report how the country is performing on achieving the Global Goals.

Reports by the SDGs Index puts Nigeria's performance at unsatisfactory and therefore means Nigeria may not meet up with the #SDGs.

Nigeria need to monitor & report #SDGs progress.
Many States do not reflect the awareness of #SDGs hence no dedicated Office on its activities.

This isn't to say States ain't taking steps in this regard, there is just a gap in awareness & alignment which need to happen quickly.

Citizens must call State Govt attention to #SDGs
Is your State aware of the #SDGs?

Does your State have an Office of #SDGs & is there someone leading the coordination of #SDGs activities?

Is your State aligning its Project to achieving the #SDGs?

Is your State monitoring & reporting on the #SDGs?
