During UPA years, I did a spate of critical stories on Congress and the then government. Questioning government and its leaders was never seen as an act of bravery or treason, depending on which side you are on. It was what regular journalists did. When did it all change?
When did journalists start attacking fellow journalists for asking questions of the government? When did it become ok to take govt narrative at face value & not question it? When did the role of journalists change to side with the oppressors, to hound those questioning the govt?
Am tweeting just a handful of examples of what I was doing during UPA years. And the fact that it even needs to be quoted to earn me the right to question this govt is telling- m.economictimes.com/news/company/c…

This spiel being peddled by TV anchors that questioning the govt is questioning public mandate is the biggest lot of rubbish. All govts are democratically elected. Even the UPA govts were. There are depths Indian media shouldn’t fall to. History wouldn’t be kind to us if we do.
