When Lord Janner died, he faced trial of facts on 22 CSA charges re nine complainants.

But #CSAinquiry hears in prelim hearing that, according to CPS, he should have faced ANOTHER 12 charges re three more complainants.

PLUS police were investigating yet more allegations.

Counsel to #CSAinquiry, Brian Altman, rejects charge that inquiry has “singled out” Lord Janner, saying that it has considered other cases of alleged institutional failure.

These included Archbishop Peter Ball, Sir Cyril Smith, Sir Peter Morrison and Sir Peter Hayman, he says.

So, #CSAinquiry hearings could well be delayed beyond October 2020.

Which, in turn, would delay the conclusion of the whole #CSAinquiry.

Daniel Janner, son of late Greville Janner, planned to read out to #CSAinquiry “sensitive personal information” about some accusers, counsel to inquiry says.

“That information included details of mental health, criminal convictions and matters from social security records...”

The theat led to an extra restriction ordered by #CSAinquiry in Janner investigation last Wednesday that bans anyone from revealing any information that could help identify any complainant core participant or witness through jigsaw identification, says counsel to inquiry.

Counsel to inquiry, Brian Altman, tells preliminary hearing: “It would be quite wrong for any individual involved in this inquiry, from any quarter, to seek to make submissions or present evidence at a public hearing for the purpose of intimidating or harassing witnesses.”

Counsel for CPS tells #CSAinquiry that it is impossible to say when a charging decision will be reached re Operation Nori, adding that he sees it as almost inevitable that further information or clarification will be sought on it from the IOPC.

Lawyers have lodged four claims in the High Court against Leicestershire County Council over alleged child sexual abuse by Greville Janner, the late MP and peer, counsel for some complainant core participants tells #CSAinquiry.

Counsel for Leicestershire Police tells #CSAinquiry that 38 people made CSA allegations to it against Lord Janner.

Not one of them has retracted, and discontinuance of civil claims has no bearing on the criminal allegations, she says.
