1/ Reminder that "Traitor of the people" was selected as Germany's worst word of 2017, due in part to its "strong Nazi connotations". This language is no accident. thelocal.de/20170110/trait…
2/ One day - far too late - there's finally going to be serious discourse about the flow of ideas between the British and the German far-right. In the meantime, the British far-right will continue laughing at us, because they know we're not serious enough to have it.
3/ When that serious discourse finally happens, it is going to be led, to widespread applause, by the same people who spent years telling everyone who warned them to calm down.
4/ (Adding some historical context) Here in Germany - see the graph in this tweet from @drpeternagel - - the phrase "betrayers of the people", used in "Mein Kampf" (yes, that book), peaked in the Nazi era. Sharp drop-off after 1945.
