If someone is living in Gurgaon, does he lose the right to advise others against moving to Gurgaon.
Can someone who has an SUV, can't hold opinions on climate change.

Why try to quell the debate by individually attacking each advocate of this crisis?

Just trying to understand
Just "Exposing hypocrisy" is not going to bring us closer to any solution. Muffle every voice, by filing every differing opinion as "propaganda" and the person as a "hypocrite"

But no solutions presented.
if tomorrow an SUV driving Scientist finds a sustainable energy solution, Will we reject it, just coz he drives an SUV?

This decoupling of argument with the one who is making the argument needs to happen.

Why Netflix should worry about Disney's foray into streaming content - in just one para
Netflix current M-cap at $165 billion, a business built on leasing someone else' content. Now all those creators are entering streaming and pulling their content off Nflix.
'The Office' is the most watched show on Netflix, owned by NBC universal. It will be gone nxt year.
Netflix knows this, so it's investing billions in creating original content, but content creator studios & production houses aren't worth $165 billion.

Walt Disney has a P/E ratio of ~19
Netflix's P/E ratio? 143.

The German government unveiled a major policy package to combat #climate change. The subsequent discussion in the German media shows the huge political and economic cost of a simple-minded focus on #carbon pricing – it’s the 1980s all over again! A Thread @BMF_Bund @JWMason1
The policy package contains a mix of mainly sensible measures: A slowly increasing carbon price, public investment (public trains), subsidies for switching to green technology, transfers to compensate “losers”, and a plan to move out of coal energy.
What happened in the subsequent media discussion is very interesting. As expected, there was critique of certain transfers and subsidies that some groups did not like (“waste of money”). Also, the opposition parties were critical – no surprise here.

Existing #ClimateChange scenarios focus on reaching a target in 2100

but by doing so weirdly suggest that the best way to achieve a #climate target is to delay action first, miss it over the next decades, and then to try to make up for it later

This puts put a disproportionate burden on future generations, who:
-will suffer higher #climate impacts in their lives
-are burdened with later cleaning up the mess by actively pulling #CO2 out of the air

This strategy is very risky and can be avoided

Both technocratic and social solutions can be represented in IAMs, but whether it is more feasible to deploy massive negative emissions or to radically change lifestyles should be established by disciplines other than IAMs. 3/3

First, where did Alberta’s Climate Leadership Plan plan come from? (George Soros, perhaps? Foreign-funded radicals?) No. It came from Albertans. A volunteer panel led by @andrew_leach spoke w 1K residents in-person and heard from 25K+ online. 2/24
The panel also engaged with 350+ stakeholders and met w Aboriginal Peoples in three cities, and received hundreds of detailed submissions from NGOs, industry groups and others. 3/24

Good questions @RedsforNamesake. If confronting #climate change is your priority, it is imperative to ramp up carbon-free energy asap.

1. NJ will now ramp up renewable energy from 13% in 2017 and 20% by 2020 under old RPS to 35% by 2025 & 50% by 2030. Impressive leadership.
2. To ensure that this new clean energy replaces fossil fuels and contributes to #climate mitigation goals, NJ's new laws also make payments to ensure the continued operation of 3 South Jersey nuclear reactors that currently supply 31% of the state's electricity consumption.
2. Cont.: That measure is essential and ensures that nearly all of the new clean energy growth over the next 12 years builds on top of the fossil-free foundation provided by the state's existing nuclear plants.
