@tgemiles called me 'revocation guru' earlier. I rather liked that. In response, here's a thread on my revocation journey. The thread will be full of links to some of the blogs I've written on revocation over the last years. 1/
Back in 2016, the referendum result came as a bit of a surprise. There was talk of an immediate triggering of A50. I started thinking about revocability - as an insurance for the UK; if things went badly, could we turn back? 2/

In December 2016, I was on a Guardian podcast discussing Article 50, with @JolyonMaugham.

A50 was triggered in March 2017. Uncertainty over the right to revoke persisted. Remainers, to my disappointment, became fixated on the people's vote, rather than on revoke.

In December 2018, the CJEU delivered its Wightman judgment, confirming the UK's unilateral right to revoke A50. I made my best attempt to set out the case for revoke in this blog:

I tried to address some of the common arguments against revoke (in particular that it was undemocratic, and contrary to the will of the people) here:

Earlier this month, the LDs adopted the revoke position at their conference. I (unsurprisingly) welcomed that! 7/ blogs.lse.ac.uk/brexit/2019/09…
As I see it, there is a strong democratic case for revoke. If there is no Brexit which commands majority support in Parl, how, democratically, can we leave the EU? 8/
And, if there is to be another GE (in which PM Johnson seeks to get a mandate for his Brexit, promising to get it done), why don't remainers respond with an equally strong message? By backing revoke, we can make it stop. 9/9
PS: Many others deserve mention as revocation gurus too; to name only a few @EuropeanRover @mihe2000 @Wonkypolicywonk @fascinatorfun.
