We've heard a lot of people putting down #secondwavefeminists recently. And it got us thinking, just what have they ever done for us? Really.

Sorry? The Equal Pay Act? Oh, alright, we'll grant you the Equal Pay Act. But apart from that what else have they done for us?

What? The Sex Discrimination Act? Ok. They gave us the Equal Pay Act and the Sex Discrimination Act. Fair enough. But apart from that, what have #secondwavefeminists ever done for us?

Oh, ok, they gave us Equal Pay Act, Sex Discrimination Act, abortion rights, the right to expect a career, maternity rights, rights for lesbian mothers, rape crisis centres, domestic violence refuges. But apart from all that, what have #secondwavefeminists ever done for us?

Oh, alright. Yes, ok all of that and ok, ok, they gave us access to equal curriculum in schools, made rape in marriage unlawful, challenged sexism and sexual harassment but apart from all of that, what have #secondwavefeminists ever done for us?

Ok, we accept that #secondwavefeminists gave us financial independence, the right to be taxed independently of a husband, the right to buy financial products in your own name (insurance, mortgages etc..) as well but APART FROM THAT, what have #secondwavefeminists ever done for us

Fought for the right of women to wear trousers to work? And to use power tools and be taught woodwork and metal work? Challenged sexist language and fought for the rights of minority oppressed groups? Ok, ok. But apart from that, what have #secondwavefeminists ever done for us?

Ok. We'll give you contraceptive rights, challenging stigma of single parentage/sex outside marriage/unjust court rulings & police behaviour towards survivors of domestic violence and rape. But apart from that, really, what have #secondwavefeminists done for us?

Ok. Ok. Ok. So it turns out #secondwavefeminists actually did a fair bit for us after all...Our timeline is full of what. Awesome women. We owe them what we have now and we owe them not to lose it. Dig in.
