Allow me to interrupt the chaos with some good news: Nusayba was discharged from the hospital & is now back home after having a liver transplant last week! Here’s the @MedStarGUH Clap Out. Nusayba echoes Edna, “No capes! Baba wore it instead. 1/
@MedStarGUH Nusayba got a second chance at life thanks to Shawn Zahir, an anonymous donor, who bravely stepped up to give a stranger a piece of his liver. The doctors and nurses from @childrenshealth and @MedStarGUH are also superheroes and life savers. 2/
@MedStarGUH @childrenshealth Nusayba has a long road ahead of her. The next 3 months are critical & intense. She has ongoing appointments, about a dozen daily medications & two more post transplant chemo cycles. 3/
@MedStarGUH @childrenshealth Please consider registering to be a living donor. The liver grows back! You only need one kidney! You can also donate blood & bone marrow. All of these selfless acts can save countless lives. 4/
