3/ We drove today around N-Syria to find safe place for the night. Just wanted to show you this clip as to realize how flat northern-Syria is. Very difficult terrain for guerrilla war. There's a reason the saying goes: "Mountains are the Kurds' only friends".

Now it's clear. There is a disagreement btwn Syrian gov & SDF about a Damascus offer to merge SDF fighters into Syrian army.

SDF response now:

"Our position clear: Merging our forces (SDF &SAA) must come from a political settlement that recognizes &preserves SDF structure."
SDF statement in response to Damascus offer to merge with Syrian army:

"(...) We reject the language which was directed at individuals (inside SDF). The Syrian Defence ministry should have addressed the general command of the SDF in order to open the door of dialogue."

1/ Here Putin Erdogan deal. Let me explain the new ground reality in my opinion:

a/ No war, no resumption of Turkish offensive.
b/ No mass exodus of civilians.
c/ Syria & Russia take over YPG/SDF territory.
d/ De facto end of Kurdish "Autonomous Admin of North &ESyria"

e/ No 440km long x 32km deep Turkish safe zone in N-Syria, "only" 120km x 32km area btwn Ras alAyn &TalAbyad.
f/ Remaining 320km x 32km border area in hands of Syria/Russia.
g/ Joined Russia/Turkey patrols 10km deep in Syria.
h/ Turkey accepts return of Syrian gov army to border.
3/ After Putin-Erdogan deal. This remains unclear to me:

a/ Will Russia and Turkey patrols enter towns such as Kobani or Derik which are within 10 km zone?

b/ Where will YPG/SDF go? Integrate into Syrian gov army? Simply remove uniform &go home? Leave to East Syria, North Iraq?

Fake news:

Rebel TV claims YPG/PYD turned Armenian church in Tal Abyad into HQ &put Ocalan pics inside.

I was in same church in 2017. Still in touch w/ ppl there.

Church was never YPG HQ & no Ocalan pics inside. Not in 2017, not now. Pics put there to be filmed, say residents.
Also, reporter claims nobody was allowed into Armenian church after YPG takeover of Tal Abyad (end 2015).

Again nonsense.

I was in it in 2017. Church key was in hand of Armenian caretaker. Armenians used church until last Wednesday, when they fled city due to war.
Reporter also says YPG built prisons in church compound. Wrong again!

These cells were built by ISIS, during ISIS rule of Tel Abyad. ISIS kept prisoners there. I've reported from there myself! ISIS trashed part of this church, used it as HQ and beheaded people in church yard.
