How many of you heard about this before his confirmation? And how many of you were told he was a respectable DC establishment figure?

I prefer Warren over a lot of the other candidates, but let’s not pretend she has a monopoly on big structural change.
Electing a woman President is big structural change.

Electing an LGBT President is big structural change.

Electing a Hispanic, Black or Asian President is big structural change.

If you can’t see this, you understand America less than Trump voters do.
Not that other candidates don’t also have big structural *policy* changes in their platforms too! I just see a lot of my fellow straight white progressives/liberals falling into the same old trap of focusing on a certain set of issues in a certain sort of way. It’s not right.

The number of people who are functionally illiterate about misogyny and patriarchy is staggering. And I don’t just mean on the right. People who never would’ve called Obama a thug have no problem repeating patriarchal bullshit about female Democratic candidates.
This isn’t about any one candidate. It’s about all of them. Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren...
There are valid reasons to criticize every candidate. But when you say “she’s too ambitious”, “slept her way to the top” or “why isn’t there a paper trail of this so-called discrimination”, you’re being a mouthpiece for patriarchy.

Today's testimony from Yovanovitch was a key moment in the Ukraine scandal.

First, it showed the WH's defenses starting to crack.

Second, Yovanovitch delivered a pointed lecture explaining principled public service to a profoundly corrupt president:

Let's be clear on what the White House is really arguing.

Their claim: The Dem effort to flesh out the Mueller report *to secure our elections from outside attack* is not a legitimate legislative purpose.

WH should be pressed to justify this.

Trump's own intelligence officials are waving red flags about Russian interference as *an ongoing threat.*

With help from a legal expert, I tried to deconstruct the new White House letter attacking the Mueller probe as illegitimate.

At its core, the argument is absurd. It amounts to a declaration that Trump is beyond accountability entirely.

Here's the crux.

Emmet Flood claims Mueller had no right to say Trump is *not* exonerated.

But Flood doesn't address *why* Mueller did this -- because he couldn't indict.

The resulting construction is an absurdity that puts Trump beyond accountability:

One other key point here:

Mueller declined to make the call on Trump's criminality out of an *abundance of fairness to Trump.*

Now the White House and Emmet Flood are exploiting that in a way that's saturated in bad faith:
