California has made a lot of bold, progressive moves in the last two weeks -- working to defend our values against the Trump administration, make our state more affordable, and building a state that represents everyone who lives here. Here are a few highlights...

CA will now allow all Californians to give back by serving on boards and commissions, regardless of their immigration status.

In the face of Washington's inaction, we've signed 15 bills that will help prevent gun violence.

They reduce:
-the purchase of semiautomatic rifles per month
-the sale of firearm parts for "ghost guns"

And strengthen:
- red flag laws
- community violence prevention programs
CA is now the first state to require public universities to offer abortion pills on campus.

While other states have attempted to roll back a woman's right to maintain control over her own body, California continues to expand reproductive freedom across our state.
California now has the strongest renter protections and renter relief in the nation:

This week we established:
- A cap on your rent.
- Stronger protections against evictions.
- Access to legal aid $$ for those in need.

Kids shouldn't be treated differently at school because of their parents' income.

When parents can't afford to buy the typical school lunch, kids are sometimes denied food or given a different, cheaper alternative.

We've put an end to that practice. No more lunch shaming in CA.
