The bravest political acts in the coming days are:
1️⃣A Labour MP with political ambitions and a career in front of them voting *for* the deal;
2️⃣A Tory MP with political ambitions and a career in front of them voting *against* the deal
Politicians are normal people with power. Most people would not sacrifice their careers—and, more importantly, reputations among their peers—for no personal gain, lots of opprobrium (and all for something they are conflicted about anyway)
All of that is a long-winded way of saying that the gravitational pull for MPs to vote *with* their own tribe on Saturday is extremely strong, whatever they think of the national interest. That is not to say Johnson cannot sneak it, but to be cautious about switcher claims
