. @VP Mike Pence & former VP @JoeBiden will be pitching economic records in Pennsylvania. It'll be interesting. But some of this isn't debatable. On personal income and GDP, PA is far better off under @realDonaldTrump.

It's just a fact. First, c/o GDP. peoplespunditdaily.com/news/economy/2…
@VP @JoeBiden @realDonaldTrump It's clear Pennsylvania wasn't suffering under @BarackObama/@JoeBiden due to the Great Recession. PA suffered B/C they were hostile to industries that make and are now making economic progress in the state. Real GDP in the state grew by just 1.7% in Q4 2016, 1.1% in 2016.
@VP @JoeBiden @realDonaldTrump @BarackObama Finance and insurance; retail trade; professional, scientific, and technical services were leading contributors in Q4 2016. Information services; professional, scientific, and technical services; and health care and social assistance were the leading contributors for the year.
@VP @JoeBiden @realDonaldTrump @BarackObama A decline in mining subtracted from U.S. economic growth, nationally, and in Pennsylvania.

By contrast, real GDP in the state of Pennsylvania rose 2.1% in 2018, up from just 1.1% in 2016. It came in at 2.9% in Q1 2019 vs. 1.7% in Q4 2016.

Why?
@VP @JoeBiden @realDonaldTrump @BarackObama The difference between the Obama/Biden and Trump/Pence economies are clear. While both are predominantly service-driven, the former was all service and the latter saw a goods-producing resurgence. The latter has translated into higher wages and stronger economic growth.
@VP @JoeBiden @realDonaldTrump @BarackObama The same is true of income, spec. wages and salaries in the state of Pennsylvania.

Under the latter, the private sector grew while government sector shrunk 1.1%.

It's a difference in economic philosophies, not distance from the Great Recession.

@VP @JoeBiden @realDonaldTrump @BarackObama The Great Recession talking point -- which is really just an excuse for bad economic policy -- just doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

We see the same in the other leading states, starting in order of gains with West Virginia, Texas, and New Mexico.
@VP @JoeBiden @realDonaldTrump @BarackObama One more point I'd like to add to this thread.

The claim "workers are being left behind" under Trump/Pence in Pennsylvania or elsewhere, is bogus. Juxtaposed to Obama/Biden, it's insulting.

Employee comp in the first 6 months of 2019 gained $150 billion more than all of 2016.
@VP @JoeBiden @realDonaldTrump @BarackObama Percentage gains in personal income, again, particularly wages and salaries, are higher for workers. Average hourly earnings have been solid, but even more-so for non-supervisor roles.

Also known as... average working Americans.

It's rhetoric vs. reality. That's the debate.
