There are a few outrageous things that happened yesterday which have now been buried by the big election news.

We have to keep them front and centre.

First: Johnson’s do-or-die. ~JL
It is beyond extraordinary that the PM made one sole pledge before he took office and one sole pledge every single day he has occupied it, and can now be allowed to forget he ever promised it and just get away with it. This was his guarantee to the nation: no ifs, no buts. ~JL
Why did Johnson make a pledge he knew he had no power to keep? Why did he keep making it long after it became obvious he couldn’t keep it? This goes to heart of who he is: a naked liar who gets away with everything because his adoring political and media fan club lets him. ~JL
If he had had a shred of honour or integrity, he would have admitted that 31 Oct was impossible as soon as the Benn Act was passed. Instead we had to endure a preposterous charade for nearly two months as PM threatened to circumvent parliamentary sovereignty and break the law ~JL
In the age of Johnson it is easy to forget politicians and governments are supposed to have a degree of interest in country’s welfare and are expected to occasionally tell truth. With Johnson the standard is so low we must simply debate how appalling his next action might be ~JL
This election will be about character and Johnson’s will be on the agenda. We have now normalised the fact that our prime minister is a self-obsessed sociopathic compulsive liar. Do not normalise it. Challenge him on it every day. He said do or die. He did not do. ~JL
