Their real mistake is one that Hollywood seems intent on repeating over and over:
1. Disrespecting the original source material fans love.
2. Injecting political messaging into escapist fiction
3. Shoehorning in "diversity"
4. Attacking fans who disagree w/their decisions

It seriously would have been so easy to make a Terminator movie that excited franchise fans and appealed to general audiences. Instead, the director attacked the core fanbase by calling them misogynists & the movie looked so generic general audiences didn't care.
Hollywood & those who work in it are so tone deaf, and they never seem to learn from their mistakes. TDF utilized feminism, immigration, racism, & pretty much every political hot button topic there is, & they wonder why the movie flopped?
People go to movies to get AWAY from that crap! Only hyper-partisan political junkies love that type of stuff but even they wait for video more often than not. If you look at the first 2 Terminator movies, there's ZERO politics involved in them.
And yet, with Dark Fate, politics is not just "front and center" but apparently if you don't see this movie you "hate women". 🙄
Frankly, despite being a fan of the Terminator franchise, I'm glad this movie flopped. Tim Minar is a jerk & every "woke" hack who worked on ruining the Terminator mythos deserved an "L" here. Unfortunately, I doubt they'll learn much from this teachable moment.
Paramount really needed this to be a hit, too. That's a studio that really needs some hits. They should be focusing on making good movies instead of co-opting franchises for propaganda films. But, again, Hollywood never seems to learn. 😐
