Spencer was responding to the attacks he was getting after Heather Heyer was murdered by a white supremacist at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville - a rally that Spencer organized.

The audio is disturbing. The racial slurs Richard Spencer throws around are hard to listen to. The anger he displays is the frustrated cry of a man who genuinely believes these vile things.
Yet, CNN & others downplay the seriousness of his racism.

Of course this was untrue & it was clear then too. But they normalized him.

To folks replying, "we knew Spencer was a Nazi".

1) It's very different to hear explicit racism in its unfiltered form.
2) The media/politicians have been complicit.
3) Antifascists aren't the bogeyman the media portrays. They protect their communities.

Racism doesn't always look mean or unkempt. It doesn't always present itself as rage. But that deep unbridled hatred is the core of every racist and xenophobic statement by politicians and pundits. Don't be fooled.
