The matriarch Smt Sukhmali Koul, made #Bhaderwah #Jammu her home & went onto become the first Lady teacher in the area, also setting up a school for girls. Giving back to her community, in the best way she could. 
A few generations down, the fly remains committed to their region & nation. Ruchir Kumar Koul marries a beautiful Bhaderwahi girl in 1989. 5 yrs into the marriage, Rucher was gunned down by terrorists. He left behind two small children, 3 & 5 yrs old & a 26 yr old wife.
In 1992 they inhumanly killed 2 students, who had gone to the forests to collect firewood, one of whom was a Class 9 student, gouging their eyes and carving their hearts and livers out acc to reports. The local Police at that time ill equipped to counter these terrorists.
Rucher Koul knew that locals in this far flung, remote area will have to fight back to protect themselves from the terrorists. He organised defence committees in villages & mohallas. Against AK 47s & grenade launchers common villagers fought back with lathis, kattas & desi guns.
To bring attn to the plight of the people & awaken the State & Central Govts,Rucher Koul organised a 41 day long mass agitation. Shops, post offices, schools remained shut with employees refusing to go to work. Rucher Koul was put in the hit list of the terrorists.
After many failed attempts on 7th June 1994, 36 yrs old Rucher Koul was gunned down brutally as he worked in the fields adjacent to his house, along side his 26 yrs old wife. 30-40 bullets all on his chest. None on his back. He died a hero facing his killers.
Rucher Koul’s distraught wife, Sudershan Koul unable to bear the shock and pain consumed poison. It was only after 40 days of treatment & prayers she recovered and went on to work & raise her two children.
This was what is “abnormal”. The Pakistani sponsored terrorism. The Jihad that was and is raged against minorities, dissenting voices and India, in #JammuAndKashmir. This is nothing but terrorism.
