Of course, deliberate strategy. Shared by populists from Orban to Trump + homegrown Johnson & his cabal. Normalise dishonesty, break down barrier between truth / reality and lie / fantasy, rely not on evidence but on belief. All serves to numb population to whatever comes next.
We've seen how & how well it works in Hungary, US, Brasil etc. So no surprise that UK branch of Populists International do same; or that it works so effectively here too. But also means we know the dangers and the stakes if we let them away with it or if we give up fighting back.
It took decades, centuries even, to create a healthy democratic culture based on public trust, shared values & mutual respect. How quickly that can be jeopardised by a Johnson, a Cummings and a party that calls itself "Conservative" but is really engaged in destruction&revolution
