The things most often co-opted by political idolatry usually tend towards justice issues.

Kristen Garrett shared that on average people in the United States (including Christians) identify more with their partisan political identity than their religion, race, or ethnicity. This means that partisanship shapes morality more than Scripture does.
If you (as a Christian) think that your party is the party of Christianity (or even the one that is closer to Christian faith as several apologists try to do), you may have placed your partisan loyalty above faith without being aware of it.
