Few thoughts on @kanyewest and #JesusIsKing:
1. Christians should celebrate that people are hearing about Jesus. Whatever Kanye’s motives, we can be like Paul who says, what does it matter as long as Christ is preached? (Phil. 1:18) Some people need to stop trippin.

2. Kanye is doing more evangelism than most evangelicals seem to be doing. He’s simply putting his gifts to work in that worship and it happens that he is reaching a lot of people in the process.
3. Kanye is reaching people most evangelicals aren’t likely able to reach through our status quo modus operandi. People who probably haven’t stepped foot in a church are blasting Jesus in their @beatsbydre headphones.
4. Kanye is publicly expressing Christ (and my hope is that his faith will deepen with doctrinal substance). Though we can be concerned, we should not worry as all of us have held (and continue to hold) imperfect and/or problematic doctrinal views.
5. There might be some wisdom is watching how @justinbieber is navigating his faith. He seems to have stepped away from the spotlight (for whatever reason). Perhaps its to learn about faith and get discipled in the tenants of the faith.
6. Christians need to stop relying on celebrity conversations in order to validate the existence of God. It’s great when God rescues anyone from sin, but Christians today seem to abide by a ranking system with celebrities and rich people at the top.
7. If you are a pastor thinking of preaching about Kanye, use the substance of his lyrics more than you use a story about his celebrity. Please don’t say, “If God can save Kanye, then...”. How about saying, “If God can save me, then...”
