@CA_Dem First, and most importantly -- the first two bullet points on federal and California energy/ climate policy are for a green new deal. (So I'll use #CAGND for this thread.)

@CA_Dem Hey @AOC and @SenMarkey! I paraphrased H Res 109/ S Res 59 #GreenNewDeal and wrote it into @ca_dem platform! might not be law yet but the biggest bluest best state in the nation is now firmly committed! #CAGND

@CA_Dem Next. Cal has already adopted one of #GreenNewDeal central tenets -- 100 percent clean electricity. So I sketched out what a #CAGND would look like, and wrote that into the plaform. Give formerly incarcerated a hiring preference. Setbacks. Phase out drilling. More.

@CA_Dem Next. I cleaned up the environment and nature section of the plank to make it easier to read. Platform now talks about California's special wild places, WHY they must be protected, WHAT we must do to protect them. #CAGND

@CA_Dem And yes, I included a call to eliminate single use plastics, and hope that helps @BenAllenCA @LorenaSGonzalez in getting SB 54/ AB 1080 done next year. #CAGND #BanSUP

Environmental justice is woven through the plank: starting with humane conditions for farmworkers (because California farmworkers grow YOUR food, America). And that's part of the #GreenNewDeal. #CAGND

and -- pay attention, @Scott_Wiener @cayimby -- "Support housing, transit, and jobs policies that give people jobs that pay a living wage near housing they can
afford, so as to discourage super-commuters" is now in the @ca_dem energy plank. #CAGND

@CA_Dem and of course we will defend California's longstanding ability to set science-based standards for ICE cars as a part of a comprehensive plan to reduce tailpipe emissions. Thx @gavinnewsom @AGBecerra! In CA vs Trump, justice will prevail. #CAGND

@CA_Dem Oh, and about the un-capitalization of the #GreenNewDeal ? Moderates within the party wanted to call it a plan. I fought for the identifying label #GreenNewDeal. We compromised on an un-capitalized green new deal. #CAGND because LOL capiTALiZatioN doeS NOt maTTEr.

@CA_Dem And I believe that the California Democratic Party, leading the way as always, is the first state party to put the #GreenNewDeal in the platform. #CAGND

@CA_Dem of course a platform is only as good as the people whose values it reflects. (And Cal Dems are awesome, so the platform is awesome!)

The platform gives grassroots activists a valuable tool. (next tweet) #CAGND

@CA_Dem activists now can ask candidates: "Are you fully on board with a California Green New Deal, or are you not a Democrat?"

That's it. That's the ball game. That's why we fight. #CAGND

and although I use the word "I" way too much, this was a process that included input from many, many people, both on the party platform committee and among the grassroots throughout the state.
