Agree with this 100%. Becoming increasingly concerned about the interpretation in the UK of how the EU works even among experts - that always comes back to some notion they should be particularly nice to us, and more fool them if not. We need a lot more realism.
Even the most basic basic fact - as a non member state UK opinion will matter less than the smallest member state to the EU - is rarely acknowledged. The EU doesn't have a long term vision of the future relationship, but that's better than the UKs unachievable vision.
Oh and it really is bizarre that four years ago criticising the EU for being more concerned with unity than trade was a Eurosceptic view, now saying this is somehow unpatriotic and EU loving...
