Interestingly this tweet draws my attention to a Brexit Central article which implicitly calls for the NHS to pay more for drugs as part of a US trade deal - and indicates perhaps why the Conservatives continue to struggle with the issue...
Here's the specific text - there is in fact nothing right now to stop the NHS buying drugs from the US, and no reason a US trade deal should make this quicker. brexitcentral.com/ignore-labours…
Several points to flow - hard to believe Brexit on Jan 31 will stop such misleading articles. Question whether Government will continue to listen to them. And the debate on the NHS and trade deals continues to be infantile on all sides.
Trade deals should reflect domestic policy in various fields, not set it. Problem UK will face in moving quickly on trade deals will be where we should take time over the interface between domestic and international policy, e.g. farming, NHS etc
