One fundamental factor of why this fight, for the planet, is going to be difficult if not impossible.
Here is a fellow who represents, not Conservative values, but RightWing ones. Who lives for values & w principles that are consumptive, not cooperative.

the past. It is the mentality that is detached from reality. It believes that what is happening to him, now, is all that will and can happen and is going to happen.
"We were built on an oil and extractive economy, and by-god look how great all this is! There is no need to

change it! Lets just get better at it...". And by better the measure is making more money, and ever more things...not that move us in harmony with the world, but even bigger the roads, deeper the digs, and more impenetrable the concrete to dominate the world for consumption.

And, of course, the measure of that success is how much $money is had. In the end, what is the number that represents the wealth amassed by so profoundly thieving from the world, the earth, its people, its many forms of life. Millions are no longer sufficient. Billions, at a

minimum, are required these days to be satisfied and feel successful.

There are not enough tweets in twitterville to capture the depth and breadth of this syndrome. The crass, astonishingly unconsciousness that this sector of society bring to bear on these important issues.

To call them "life & death" issues is not hyperbole, but it is banal in the unmovable truth of the point.

There is a proverb: "As in one thing, so in all". And so it is here, it seems to me. It speaks to the bedrock values & principles ones lives by.

I call them the Axioms of Belief. It is those ideas, values, experiences & etc, that go to make up the below cognition of a person is; who & what a society is at every level.

Who we are: Not only How we see & engage the world, but the range & extent of How we are a
Able to.

It is these "Axioms of Belief" that make up the energy of the systems that we live within. Such defines the structure of the "tribal" affiliations that so dominate our world these days.
And the one quality that keeps such things "Tribal" is the complete inability to challenge the

premise. To challenge the Axioms. To do so is to challenge everything. (Which is the point.)
It is the magnitude of that challenge that starts to challenge ones self & ones identity.

Examples abound. Examples of this syndrome can be pulled from any day's headlines.

Thus, to return to the original point, to make a change of the magnitude required is not simply shuffling what we already have in front of us, but changing the structure of how it is we understand and what we can see what we are living within.
We think we dominate the planet. We

are finding out the limits of that belief. And we will find that people like this fellow, and on a larger stage our own Mr. Trump, and his fellow travelers who use him to enable and enforce their will on the nation & the planet...we will find what we are finding out, that

our present relationship to our planet, as well as each other, (but that is a diff level of the problem. Same principles & issues, but different) cant last forever. It won't last long. And it does not appear it will last much longer at present trends.

Strangely it is so

monumental, the impact of what we are up against, that it seems impossible to solve, thus inculcating a certain resignation.

Look to the movies and the TV shows that are coming out over the last few years. The apocalyptic despair, & sometimes magical thinking that saves the

world. A deep dive review of these stories we are living in would be a profound exampling of this simple point being made here.

If we care to live, and care about life, we have to change how we are.
