This is your second daily pension announcement: Sorry, I have to do another one. I need to tell you more about Kevin and how the institutional investment industry works. #handsoffmypension #ABLeg #abed First, the industry is male dominated and is hyper competitive.
To quote Travis from the @calgaryherald “AIMCo has earned its reputation as a world-class investment manager.” So has ATRF. If I have learned anything about institutional investors it is that they all tend to claim greatness. #handsoffmypension
This industry continually reminds me of a former Minister of Education who, in the 1990’s, claimed that all students could score above the provincial average on Diploma Exams. Almost all asset managers claim to perform in the top quartile. #fail #stats #statsfailure
Finance has not even asked ATRF for the kind of data that would be necessary to do an accurate measurement of the probability of the same or similar returns. The Minister is telling teachers to invest on reputation alone and not to study the actual organizational performance.
Hmm…I wonder why? Could it be that AIMCo returns don’t stand up to comparison? I do understand that you can't have some making $3.4 million walking around thinking that they are average.(I don't think LAPP has hit benchmark even one quarter so far this year.) #dmmethenumbers
But what of the future? Moving ATRF assets into AIMCO definitely makes AIMCO stronger (not the other way around). ATRF now has a strict deadline to negotiate an investment services agreement with AIMCO. I, for one, will be very interested in the contents of said agreement.
As well so many other questions:
1. Will ATRF have a say on pay?
2. How will ATRF contribute to the governance structure? 3. Board seats?
4. How about input on ESG policies? (I have colleagues very interested)
5. Will AIMCO agree to make public directives from the Treasury Board?
6. What governance structures are necessary to evaluate AIMCO's investment performance?
7. What governance structures are necessary to evaluate AIMCO's executive team?
Me and the rest of the world will be watching future investment performance. I will be watching cost structure and contribution rate of the plan. And, God willing ( @TheTweetOfGod )
I will analyze it all right here.

Travis, call LAPP.
