Earlier today I covered the EU motion for resolution on "climate emergency" for the COP25 meeting.

Let's look at what was said in summary 👇

Several MEPs called for higher climate ambitions, with even lower emissions targets for the future.

Only one of the MEPs that wanted to phase out nuclear took the opportunity to speak up, @delarabur (time stamp 18:35:20 in the video).

@delarabur @delarabur started by calling for stricter emissions targets.

She then proceeded to call for a just transition that also takes into account those that worry for the end of the month and called for careful approach.

@delarabur She then took the opportunity to double down on phasing out nuclear, saying she "was especially happy that the ENVI committee decided for the phase out of nuclear energy" in the proposed text and that "we cannot leave future generations with this as our legacy".

@delarabur Well, @delarabur was right about two things:

1 - We need more ambitious climate policies!
2 - We cannot leave future generations with this as our legacy!

But phasing out Europe's largest source of electricity and half of Europe's clean electricity just isn't the right choice.

@delarabur We need MORE renewables and MORE nuclear energy.

Funnily enough - because the direct translation of EU plenary sessions is not always perfect, it happens to sum up the stupid policy of @delarabur and SDP perfectly 😂

@delarabur Now go here to find your member of the EU parliament and contact them (on twitter, email, over the phone) to let them know that we want more nuclear and renewables and less funding of fossil fuels.
