He doesn’t make this any easier for himself or us. He should have apologised.
He didn’t need to say Labour was antisemitic. (It’s not.) He didn’t need to say he was antisemitic. (He’s not.) All he needed to do was apologise for the profound hurt caused to the Jewish community and the dreadful way the problem was handled. Because it was.
Ultimately it doesn’t change that much. We still need to tackle antisemitism. We still need a progressive government. We still need to deprive the Tories of a majority with every fibre of our being, because our country and future is at stake. But fucking hell, I’m tired.
