The Victorian Government is the latest stakeholder to express concern about vaping, saying e-liquids are becoming increasingly more dangerous.
A torrent of #FUD on..
#vape #vaping #eLiquid #nicotine in #Victoria #Australia
ajp.com.au/news/e-liquid-…
This title is deceptive in that it mentions #eLiquid but then goes on to discuss the components (concentrated #nicotine) used to MAKE e-liquid.
In a regulated, legal market there'd be no need for the latter to be in the homes of #Australians who want to #QuitSmoking via #vaping.
"Minister for Health .@JennyMikakos released data from the Victorian Poisons Information Centre that shows concentrations of #nicotine are getting stronger and the number of child poisonings from e-liquids are increasing."
Caps on maximum strength (in a regulated, legal market).
"The standard nicotine percentage in pre-packaged liquids is between 0.06% to 0.38%."
Again, as shown in the title, these are called #eLiquid ..
.. which is a totally different thing to the concentrated #nicotine we need to import to make e-liquid. Again, a regulated, legal market for #eLiquid would negate the /need/ for people to import high strength components (like 10% #nicotine - which is > 25 times stronger)
"New data reveals there have been seven calls over the past two years where the liquid had a #nicotine percentage 10% or above – with more concentrated solutions being available online."
Notably NOT #eLiquid.
AGAIN - in a regulated, legal market (RLM) strength could be capped.
"highlights the importance of being vigilant when using and storing #eCigarettes around children.."
You know the best place for those warnings?
On. The. Bottle. As might be expected in an RLM.
"..comes in response to a recommendation from the Victorian Coroner following the death of an 18-month old baby in 2018."
Tragic. And caused by Australians not having access to an RLM due to the pig-headed ideology of #TobaccoControl.
Effectively #DeskMurder.
"The TGA had made a “final decision” in 2017 to maintain the ban on such liquids for vaping."
Why does that remind me of the term "final solution"? 🤔
"In addition, the retail sale of liquid nicotine is banned in Victoria."
We would not NEED to buy (10%) liquid #nicotine if low strength #eLiquid were available for retail sale.
"#Eliquid products for use in #eCigarettes come in flavours that are attractive to children but are not in childproof packaging."
Again. RLM could specify childproof packaging! How many tots have to die before you get that?
“Sadly, children have become severely unwell or died after swallowing e-cigarette liquid. We are acting to keep our kids safe,” said State Health Minister .@JennyMikakos."
That's at best inaccurate, at worst a lie. Again, it was not #eLiquid but a high strength component. R.L.M!
“I urge vapers to be vigilant – make sure your e-liquids are locked up and out of reach and out of sight of children." .@JennyMikakos
Again. Urge them on the packaging in an RLM.
“There’s no doubt about it – #vaping is dangerous. It harms your health and can harm the ones you love.” .@JennyMikakos
Propaganda kills. And propaganda is what this article amounts to.
The article then goes on to close with the clusterf*ck in the #US which has nothing to do with #nicotine or #eLiquid but .. again #BlackMarket (this time #cannabis derived) substances.
