.@twitter You don't need to delete inactive accounts to maintain #Twitter's integrity. Here's my idea; please scroll through this thread to know about it. @twittersupport @jack @delbius @vijaya @kayvz
You divide Twitter into an old sector on "1.twitter.com" and put all things we have now over there and a new sector at 2.twitter.com.
Handle pools would start afresh on 2.twitter.com while all users would be checked for activity by having them completing a prompt to switch over to the new sector along with their username & content,
otherwise if they didn't do so by the deadline they can only keep their profile in the old and be granted a limited set of user operations like deleting tweets and editing profile description back there.
Once past the deadline old Twitter holdouts would have to undergo a harder process by setting up their handles and profiles again on new Twitter, although they are still be able to login with their old emails, passwords and phones;
these would tie their both old and new profiles together. Upon crossing the deadline twitter.com would be directed to 2.twitter.com as opposed to 1.twitter.com.
The whole process can be repeated again after an interval of preferably 10 years. Old handles would be formally like @username:1 and newer ones being @username:2.
This would be better in maintaining authentic activity than simply deleting inactive accounts where in addition to deceased users, people like astronauts, travelers, shift workers, those who're gravely sick, and political prisoners would be adversely affected. That's all.
@threadreaderapp you can unroll it now. Thanks.
