We make a mistake of treating our political moment like it's any other, but what we're looking at is a crisis that's based on a move toward government that only assists the wealthy and the market to the detriment of everyone else.
In episode 2 we get into the history of how we arrived at this point, including Reagan's trickle-down economics and neoliberalism. The endpoint was a system where people are exploited and forgotten by government and the wealthy and powerful compete over who controls the machine.

Media discussions on “the center” and polarization fail because they rely on a completely fantastical belief that it’s been a symmetrical destruction instead of a planned, weaponized strategy exercised by the Republican Party in the face of diminishing power.
This didn’t just happen. It’s trench warfare by Republicans who understand straight democracy and appeals based on actual political opinions won’t win anymore and necessitate rhetorical escalation, disenfranchisement, and a muddied game.
Treating our polarization as anything besides Republican scorched earth policy is not only disingenuous and unhelpful, it actively gives cover to the GOP to continue scorching earth while hiding behind shared responsibility. The conversation has to be better, has to evolve.

In case you had any doubt that Donald Trump is willing to go to any lengths to protect himself, including inciting violence among his supporters.
Listen. Trump is an authoritarian. Any attempt to rein him in is going to result in an escalation of violence, both rhetorical and physical. The concerns we’ve been voicing aren’t overreactions. They’re real. This is who he is. It’s what he does. Things are getting more dangerous
Stop pretending like it’s a joke, like people are just being alarmist. We have an authoritarian in power and authoritarians are more than happy to use violence if it serves their purposes. This is where we are. This is what’s happening.

While people wonder how Americans can be pro-Nazi or how we've gotten to a point where fascism is rising in the US, we probably should talk about how Nazis were inspired by America and how quickly we welcomed former Nazis into our fold. 1/

First off, the idea that Americans can't be Nazis or that Nazism is inherently anti-American is ridiculous. Fascism is a human condition and any idea that we're somehow immune to fascism is ABSURD. It's a byproduct of the myth of American exceptionalism and it's dangerous. 2/
Believing that Americans can't be fascist because we're Americans has protected fascists and fascist movements for generations. It legitimizes movements like Trumpism and hides it behind patriotic fervor. 3/

those are all troll factory/internet research agency accounts.
so pull the accounts that follow them.
you get all these shady looking accounts with the same stats.
drop the false positives, drop the duplicates. you get about 180 accounts worth looking at.
