We will have a lot of work to do after Mango Mussolini is gone. There should be a national conversation about the gaps and failures within our laws and government processes he was able to successfully exploit. There should be no sacred cows in this discussion. /1
"Oh but it's in the Constitution" is not a justification to leave it alone. Constitutions should be reviewed with a critical eye and amended from time to time. We don't live in the 1700s anymore and society evolves. Forget for a moment what is "unrealistic" because if we never /2
talk about it, then it will always be unrealistic. The electoral college must go. It's outdated and undemocratic. Will it happen in my lifetime? Probably not, but we are the caretakers of the republic right now and it's our responsibility to get the ball rolling so future gens /3
can hopefully get it done. Citizens United is a travesty. Public campaign financing would be a big help reducing what amounts to legalized bribing and purchasing of elected representatives. Along those lines, slap term limits for congress. Serve two terms, move along. /4
Put some guidelines in place for appointment of government officials. Example: you cannot be the head of the EPA if you worked for or lobbied for related industry. Pick a scientist, or better yet, promote career public servants. And I can't stress this enough: Sec State should /5
ALWAYS be a career diplomat or at least have diplomatic experience. Same goes for Ambassadors. Promote from within. Encourage young people to go into civil service by offering them full or partial forgiveness of college loans. Encourage youth volunteering. Offer free vocational/6
schooling (not college). With the exception of disability, everyone unemployed on govt benefits should be required to either volunteer or enroll in a free vocational/job training school. Federal judges should have a HUGE threshold for confirmation. And I'm not sure we should /7
appoint judges for life except SCOTUS. Speaking of SCOTUS, I wish we could nominate them in a rotation. If a D President appoints one, the next one should be nominated by a R President or if one isn't in power, by the highest ranking R in the Senate. Honestly I don't think /8
either party should be able to stack the court. On voter rights: why not make election day a federal holiday? Or at the very least hold elections on a Sunday? Make voter registration automatic when a citizen turns 18. This barely scratches the surface. I'm sure everyone has /9
great ideas about how we can make our country better and government more just and efficient. We just need to - as Americans - identify the issues without labeling it "Democrat's fault" or "Republican's fault". You go back enough and everyone fucked up at some point. How we /10
move forward is what matters. It's what's under our control. Let's clean our house first, then go about rearranging the furniture. But this must be done or the next king-wannabe is waiting just off-stage. /end

Did I mention these?
- 10 years of tax returns released for presidential candidates
- requirement to fully divest from ownership in any companies
- 5-year lobbying ban for members of congress and cabinet
/end (again)
