What would reproducible reporting look like?
Over the last 20 years, reproducible research has gained traction in fields that involve heavy data analysis.

The key is giving readers the ability to reproduce every figure and graph themselves.

What would that level of rigor look like in other areas?

One model is actually Twitter Moments, which are just light wrappers around tweets.

So long as you trust that Twitter didn’t edit the tweets, you can jump right to the primary sources.
