I really can't wait for this election to be over.
The feeling that everything - Brexit, racism, the country - is on a knife edge, and that one little thing might push it one way or that, is unbearable.
And I have never, personally, experienced an election where people's choices are so heavily bound up with their identities, and therefore every political act becomes a personal one, or is at least seen that way.
And every political choice can be perceived by others as a personal betrayal. What do we become when our personal lives are so intertwined with the political that we cannot have relationships which exist outside of that paradigm?
The election is important, and the choices are significantly different from each other, but the sense that it is good vs evil, and individuals must choose between good and evil, goes too far, for me.
For me, politics is about far more than elections - like the old story, it is the spaces between the notes. That's how things get done.

But, equally, politics isn't - can't be - everything. The personal is the political but we all need there to be an 'off stage' space.
Social media plays a roll, because what is essentially a *social* platform blurs the boundary between the personal and the political. Or maybe I need to follow more puppy picture accounts.
