I want to take a quick moment to highlight the difference between Trump's America 1st worldview and the democrats' globalist worldview using a change in the USMCA that is being reported. I think it's an easy to understand example. It's also a powerful example.
The example deals with biological protections. (Medicine made from living organisms). In Current law the drug makers are protected from competition from generics for 12 years in the USA, 8 years in Canada, and 5 years in Mexico.
This difference in duration causes two big "problems" One it makes it less profitable to "discover" drugs in Mexico and Canada giving the USA an edge on having drug companies in the USA. Thats a good thing for us bad for them. It provides jobs and gives us cutting edge drug care
Two, it makes drugs cheaper on Canada and Mexico sooner. This a bad thing for US citizens and consumers as it sets the USA up as subsidizing drugs for those in Canada and Mexico by making us pay full price while others can buy generics.
So, how did Trump's America 1st worldview tackle this? He proposed to make it a 10 year protection in all countries. This would cost MX citizens an additional 5 years of higher drug prices and citizens in Canada an additional 2 years but save American citizens 💰 for 2 yrs
In exchange for MX and CA paying more they would automatically be on a level playing field and could compete for the high tech big pharma jobs. The American drug companies would then be faced with greater competition as the drug industries grew in those two countries.
More competition would mean more drugs discovered, costs being kept down, tax breaks being offered. FDA and other regulations would still offer American companies/citizens some protections but US citizens would benefit with cheaper drugs, quicker.
Taking a long view look at it the America 1st policy is fair and would help everyone. It would save the US citizen money. It would help MX and CA grow their drug industries and it would require us all to pay the same amount. It would stop the USA from subsidizing other countries
So what was the Dems response? Keep the status quo. They took out the provisions. They would rather the US citizen continue to pay higher costs for longer periods than make MX and CA citizens pay more. They put the well being of other countries before the USA.
They put Big pharma's protection above the citizens' welfare.

"The trade proposal offered by the Trump administration would have provided drugmakers with a minimum of 10 years of market exclusivity, which would have extended the time that residents of those countries would wait"
.. before generic copies of their drugs were available. Critics said that would drive up the cost of medicine for consumers.

Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., who was involved in the trade talks, said that provision was eliminated. “It is gone," she said."
The dems picked the citizens of Mexico and Canada over their own citizens. They acted like globalists putting the needs of other countries over the needs of their own country.

Remember to thank a Dem for the higher prices you will be paying for your prescription drugs .......
....while your monetary sacrifice allows those poor souls in Mexico and Canada(as well as Big pharma) to spend their extra money on other things. 😒😒
