Account Suspension: Twitter’s Myth

The way accounts are getting suspended on Twitter is scary. The worst part is, the people that are getting suspended do not know the reason. This makes it difficult for other people to take note of what to do and what not to do on the app.
Everyone is scared that his/her account can be suspended anytime, since it is something that many of us don’t know about. We normally accept terms of use of applications and many other related things without reading them, though I believe the conditions are many that is why.
After reading the Twitter rules here is a portion of an article from the Twitter website that states the common reason why accounts are suspended

Spam: Most of the accounts we suspend are suspended because they are spammy, or just plain fake, and they introduce security risks
for Twitter and all of our users. These types of accounts are against our Twitter Rules. Unfortunately, sometimes a real person’s account gets suspended by mistake, and in those cases we’ll work with the person to make sure the account is unsuspended.
Account security at risk: If we suspect an account has been hacked or compromised, we may suspend it until it can be secured and restored to the account owner

Abusive Tweets or behavior: We may suspend an account if it has been reported to us as violating our Rules surrounding
abuse. When an account engages in abusive behavior, like sending threats to others or impersonating other accounts, we may suspend it temporarily or, in some cases, permanently.

The most common reason accounts get suspended is because they are spammy; meaning accounts that tweet irrelevant or unsolicited messages, based on my own understanding.

I think a major way to prevent your account from entering this spammy section is to avoid tweeting from..
third-party apps and tweet on the main Twitter app. Though the third party apps were given authorization from Twitter via their API(Application Programming Interface) they are also the main cause of this due to the kind of applications that are created on the API.
Many third party apps use your account to automatically post some updates for you. I believe many of us are familiar with some apps that automatically thank the top people that retweeted our posts in a week, posting things like “Our biggest fans this week..”
and other related stuff.

Try and check the number of third party apps that are connected to your Twitter account by going to setting and privacy > account > apps and sessions. Revoke access to all the apps that you are not using. It will deny the third party apps access to..
your account unless you sign-in
with your Twitter account on their app again.

There are different reasons as to why some accounts are suspended, based on my knowledge I believe this is one of the major ways.
