Kicking off Boxing Day #DavesCarIDService with this delightful New England countryside find: a 1942 or 1946-48 Buick Special 4 door sedanette
this one was surprisingly easy, the straight 8 overhead valve engine, doors, and bumpers are dead giveaways. 1942/46-48 Buicks are virtually identical due to WW2
The cars of Glitter Gulch include:
parked on left: 59 Chevy Impala 4 dr hardtop, 59 Ford station wagon, 51 Buick, 54 Mercury
oncoming: 39 Plymouth
parked on right: 49 Buick Roadmaster
this delightful Xmas lawn display is a circa 1925 Ford Model TT stakebed truck (fun fact: early Ford truck models doubled the letters of their car models: TT, AA, BB)
*please note: I normally tackle your ID requests in chronological order of submission, right now I'm focusing on holiday themed requests.
This snowy swing is the back half of a 4 door 1957 Dodge Lancer. Not necessarily a sacrilege, as it isn't really that valuable a car. It was either this or end up as the chips & salsa station at a Chuy's restaurant
That there is a 1942-47 Ford F-1 stakebed (unlike passenger cars, production of trucks continued during WW2; there are no 1943-45 Ford cars, but there are 43-45 Ford trucks)
Man, I love this pic. If Christmas 1939, that is a brand spankin' new 1940 Plymouth facing the camera; 1936 Dodge 2 dr sedan near the garage; and a 1934 Ford peeking out from gas pumps on right
1935 Ford panel truck. Christmas + distillery + 1930s V8 Ford vehicle = Dave's Seal of Approval
This is a tough one due to snow cover & incomplete image, but the fenders and split rear window on the car in front of Ralphie's house are consistent with a 1938 Pontiac 4 door sedan
I stand corrected; apparently the car was ID'd in the movie. Once again, you do not get a prize for getting me to guess incorrectly.
The rubber baby buggy bumpers say that Lil' Billy is walking by a 1973 Plymouth Valiant
Not super expert on foreign cars, but I'll say 1965-ish Ford Anglia saloon.
I'll add that, while I am generally too lazy and unfocused to be considered a writer, I am considering collecting and extending some of my favorite #DavesCarIDService pieces together as a book, if there is sufficient reader or publisher interest.
biggest obstacle to this (besides my laziness) is collecting permissions from people to uses their old family photographs. In any case I'll keep you posted.

That's it for car ID-ing today, thanks for all the groovy yuletide submissions.
