I don't get these conversations about 2022.

People saying "Nani can never be president" as if it's Kenyans who decide.

People saying "Nani is better than Nani" when all the Nanis are thieves.

And then we call all this soap opera and betting "politics."

But when some of us do real politics, which is about who owns what and how they own it?

We start splitting hairs, avoiding issues, blaming ordinary Kenyans for their problems and punching holes everywhere, to avoid this reality:

8,300 Kenyans own the same as the rest of Kenyans

Reality:

8,300 Kenyans own the same as the rest of Kenyans

Education in Kenya is about the 4%

The goal of government is to serve tourists and investors

Our economy is settler driven, favors land owning over innovation and ideas

Our policies are colonial and racist

Kenyan public memory is extremely short because of

- censorship of arts
- control of education
- war on arts and humanities
- a very boring media landscape

All of which is being made worse with the #bbireport proposals

Basically, Kenya is ruled by the most stupid of us.

And after every botched election, we spend 5 years saying the same thing, forgetting what happened in the previous 5 years, betting on who will win as if it matters how we vote.

All who were killed in 2017 are now forgotten.

We Kenyans have accepted to do this sacrifice of our blood for the political class.

The real question for us is not who will win. It is if we are willing to be killed for it. Unless we have a conversation about real politics, 2022 will be the same as 2017, even 2008.

Kenyans discussing 2022 elections without discussing inequality and a dumbed down nation are not discussing politics.

They are writing a suicide note.
