OK, they are playing a Backstreet Boys song during the intermission, and I have an announcement to make.
I will vote for whichever candidate promises to outlaw rhyming "fire" and "desire" henceforth. It is the laziest rhyme in history and it must go.

There are so many other things to rhyme "fire" with!

I am an immigrant and I can knock off another dozen of these easily... Do better, writers of shitty songs!

You have to understand that Russia doesn't have much to go on when it comes to major successes. The space race, yes, but they are now as concerned with promoting Moon landing conspiracy theories as glorifying their own achievements.
And then, there is burning envy of America...
America's cultural and economic impact on the rest of the world is immense. Even Russians eat burgers, wear jeans and listen to rock music. Russian movies are invariably pale imitations of Hollywood (even while decrying the latter's "pseudocultural decadence")...
Russian sports have to rely on state-sponsored doping programs to even stay in the same strata with Americans.
All Russia has is the military and that one big victory (over its erstwhile ally, but whatevs) to brandish over the world. And brandish they will.

Just noticed team USA has a player named Jack Drury in the lineup, so I went and googled him, and... yep.
Seriously, is there a sport outside of fox hunting that is more nepotistic, exclusive and aristocratic than hockey?
Everyone is someone's son. Unreal...
And the NHL is even proud of this fact.

Once again, it's not to say that legacy players are not good. Of course they are.
The point is, THIS IS WHY THEY ARE GOOD.
In hockey, legacy players have an enormous advantage. Much more so than in other sports. It's a huge problem that hockey doesn't recognize (& even embraces).

A brokered convention occurs when a party's nominee is not selected by a majority in the first round of delegate voting at the party's nominating convention. Get ready Democrats it's coming.

Most delegates are then permitted to vote for whichever candidate they choose, allowing for input from party leadership and political maneuvering. Additional votes are taken until a majority is reached.
For this reason, brokered conventions are also known as multiple ballot or multi-ballot conventions.

I heard a @cbcradio report that experts expect, regardless of who wins the election, the losing side will not accept the win. I beg to differ. In #ableg the hard right did not accept the NDP win. They sought to overthrow the democratic choice. 2/10
It is not Liberal supporters, or NDP or Green, who threaten to "take back" their province or country from the duly elected government. Let's drop this "both-sideism". It is only the far right that threatens violence if they don't get what they want. 3/10

The Electoral College is a ticking time bomb right now, and I want to explain why.

Imagine the presidential election were held today and the map looked like this the morning after. A Democrat could still win the presidency.
Why? Because the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that "electors" are constitutionally empowered to vote for any candidate they wish—even if state law directs them to vote for the winner of the state's popular vote.

Colorado sits within the 10th Circuit. The case itself actually involved three "faithless electors" from Colorado.

Now: Imagine Trump ekes out a victory in Colorado, but four Colorado electors say: You know what? We're not voting for the winner of our state's popular vote.

Halloween as a holiday, even commercialized, only wants you to be happy. It wants you to express yourself, if you wish, with a doofy costume of literally anything. Doesn’t have to be ~spooky. I wear a pair of $3 bat earrings and Halloween is happy for me.
Yes, Halloween DOES encourage you to spend relatively small amounts of money on grotesque amounts of candy. It does not ask you to cook for umpteen people. It does not ask you to try, and possibly fail, to roast a turkey. It does not ask you to cope with relatives you dread.
