He isn't wrong though. Journalists are paid based on ability to bring in readers and engagement, I don’t understand saying otherwise.
Well that was quick. The NY Times strikes again.
I mildly disagreed with her and @TaylorLorenz blocked me. Amazing.
She actually replied to my tweet, then as I was answering that, blocked. I guess someone warned her off.
very serious ny times reporter at work (again)
like, are you seriously arguing journalists don't have incentives to get people to read journalism? REALLY? in the current year? (and in fact, the entire history of journalism?)
yeah where'd i get a crazy idea like attracting an audience is good for a reporter's career?
ny times reporters thinking this is all about the super great quality of their writing and not the ability to attract an audience is a lot like 2nd and 3rd generation millionaire/billionaires insisting that they got there purely through "hard work" and anyone can do it.
im done with this for today but she goes on to argue that major media companies "don't make money by clicks" which would probably be a surprise to the ny times ad sales department that sells premium ad spots on ny times stories to blue chip advertisers.
