THE WAR MEDICINE OF THE SHONA / KARANGA WAS LEGENDARY. 
It is believed that they could summon bees, or make their soldiers braver, or turn bullets into water with a Nyumbe. The Shona / Karanga people also had medicines which made their armies temporarily invincible.
During the anti-Portuguese war of 1670-1696 the Rozvi crushed the bones of the dead Portuguese to make invincibility potions for their soldiers. They also had a war drum called Ngoma Lungundu, and another war drum called Ditiwe.
Ngoma Lungundu had the power to put enemies to sleep or to simply kill them instantly.

It was recorded that the Portuguese soldiers at the town of Sena were in fear of the Rozvi Changamire’s magic and that they had to send in new soldiers straight from Portugal to fight the Shona/Karanga. These new soldiers were defeated by the Rozvi.
Even the African mercenaries of the Portuguese refused to attack the Shona/Karanga because of their war medicine during the Barwe Rebellions.
The Nguma Lungundu (the drum that thunders) was owned by the Lembas (the black Jews). It was built from a piece taken off the ark of Covenant of God.
Ngomalungundu is a sacred drum that was not supposed to be put on the ground for whatever reason so each of the 12 Lemba houses would take turns to carry it or hold it without putting it on the ground.
The Karanga under Rozvi-leadership checked and stopped the penetration of slavery into Southern-Africa......Always remember that..and very few Karanga and sothern-tribes,including the Zulus terrorising fellow-Africans further south.
I always hear a lot of ignorant-chat on platforms with Black-diasporan-brothers some of who ,through the matrix-mindwasing-media and films such as roots,seem to believe Africans who survived on the Motherland were sellouts.
They have no clue bout the guerrilla-warfare that took out many Slave-drivers,..nor bout the Karanga who made the Portuguese fold-tail and run ....and Great warriors such as Kween Nzingah of Angolan.
One may ask How were they colonised with all those powers? The answer is Very few of the those who took refugee in the South from the Northern Euro-Arab-slavery...were taken into slavery.
