The reactions to this tweet

have been rather predictable
Yes, I know the referendum was deficient. But did the UK investigate it properly? NO
Yes, I know more votes went to anti-Brexit parties than to pro-Brexit parties at the General Election. But that's the UK's election system for you. Is it presently reformable? NO
Yes, it would have been nice if pro-EU parties had collaborated more. But did they? NO
You can add 101 additional points here about why Brexit should not have come to pass, or who did what wrong, at what stage.

*But that does not matter now*

Stop fighting the old battles!
I understand the the loss. I understand the anger. I understand the futility of all of this.

Hell, I have spent most of the last three years preoccupied with little else.

But this is happening now.
Trying to engineer some way around the worst of it - by getting the EU to offer some sort of associate citizenship for the Brits - is the wrong way forward.

That'd be the EU compromising its principles because of the dysfunction of the UK state. It maintains UK exceptionalism.
If you want to work for solutions here, seek to fix UK politics first!
- get a pragmatic leader elected in the Labour Party
- campaign for electoral reform
- work for mutual recognition on citizens' rights / work for a softer Brexit
- stop fighting previous battles and move on!
