@theprospect This part is also important. Biden usually rebuts his bankruptcy bill work by saying he helped women and children get child support and alimony payments. He's 100% stretching the truth.

Democrats gave up on the border wall in the year-end spending bill. Trump got another $1.375 billion, no restrictions on moving money around. So why give everything away? prospect.org/politics/democ…
Well, Henry Cuellar, a conservative Dem facing a primary, wanted a river walk in his district in Laredo. The law had to be changed to allow federal funding to go to different border designs (to add a retaining wall to the Rio Grande). That got into this spending bill.

1-Here's a fun story about how the major victory in USMCA got lost in the omnibus. (This is the tip of the iceberg compared to what I'm hearing, this one happens to have been discovered and is public.)
2-so the big win in USMCA was eliminating the pharma provision. This would have done two things: a) locked in a 10-year exclusivity period for high-cost biologic drugs, b) expanded the definition of what a biologic is.
3-In the US we already have a 12-year exclusivity for biologics. The reason to kill the 10-year was that if it got into a trade deal, it would be extremely hard to lower the exclusivity below that number without committing a trade violation.

His base is clueless & knows nothing about politics or government. Bernie never caught my radar until I started hearing the “establishment” mantra. First thought? Wait? He’s been in politics his whole life? How is he not establishment? #neverBernie

As I first wrote several weeks ago would happen, the Democratic debates have restructured the polling, putting, as I predicted, @KamalaHarris and @ewarren within striking distance of @JoeBiden.

Biden 22%
Harris 17%
Warren 15%
Sanders 14%
Buttigieg 4%

Months of assertions that #Biden was "inevitable" have been eviscerated. Unable to stand up to #Harris at the debates, Biden appeared tired, confused and unprepared, despite having been kept away from major events for weeks by his handlers. Harris has been campaigning daily.
#Warren won the first debate handily, with only @JulianCastro and @CoryBooker offering any other strong moments in the two hour debate.
The new rankings put #Harris and Warren in the lead for most electable and many are already talking about Harris/Warren as the 2020 ticket.

Calling Pennsylvania "#Biden's home state" as an excuse for why his base of operations isn't Delaware, where he was senator for THREE DECADES, ignores that he's trying to deflect from what Delaware stands for and what he did there when #Warren is going to hammer him on it.
#Biden never lived in #Philadelphia, ever.
He was born in Scranton, a white town upstate that is diametrically oppositional from Philadelphia which is majority black and the poorest big city in America.
Biden moved to Delaware from Scranton, PA when he was TEN.
It's fine to decide to distance yourself from the place--DELAWARE, not PA-- you lived for SIXTY SIX YEARS & where you grew up, got married, raised your kids & grandkids. But don't pretend it's because you are FROM Philadelphia when you just want our votes & your state is tiny.

I’m in Vegas for the SEIU/CAP forum, which organizers want candidates to use for *specific* executive actions presidents can take to expand the labor movement.

"Many people here today want to join a union, but you can’t,” SEIU’s Mary Kay Henry says at start.
Kamala Harris's first big idea here: "Banning right-to-work laws." Also says she'd "use her executive authority to make sure barriers are not in place to do the advocacy they need to do."

Sanders has previously called for banning right-to-work, which could not pass a GOP Senate.
Harris on somewhat firmer footing when talking about economic stress -- which she uses to talk about her LIFT Act tax cut.
