A COMMON MISTAKE WE DO WITH REGARDS TO GHUSL & JANAABAH

As we all know, there are certain situations that the Shariah legislated or recommends that we perform GHUSL: The Ghusl of Jumu'ah, Ghusl after observing the menstrual circle, Ghusl after sexual intercourse, among others.
Whoever performs the legislated ghusl due to sexual intercourse, one can do it in either of two forms. Either the complete form, or the form that is just sufficient. For the form that is just sufficient, it involves Niyyah & ensure that water covers the entire body.
The other form includes Niyyah, washing the hands to the wrist, washing the private part, washing rhe right part of the body, then the left, making Wudoo' & ensuring water covers the entire body as well.
These are the two forms of Ghusl for either sexual intercourse, Menstruation, Jumu'ah, & any other form of Ghusl recommended by the Shariah. However, for someone who performs Ghusl as a result of sexual intercourse, and intends to perform Salaah, it is not binding on him to
perform ablution even if he did not perform ablution in his ghusl because purification for sexual intercourse (major impurity) puts an end to minor impurity. This is because the impediments of the state of sexual intercourse are more than the impediments of minor impurity.
So, the fewer ones are included in the more abundant ones.

[The proof is what] Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said:

The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) did not use to perform ablution after ghusl.”

[Recorded by at-Tirmidhee (107) and an- Nasaa’ee (1/137)].
In another version, she said:

“He (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) performed ghusl and offered two rak’ahs of prayer. I do not think he performed ablution afresh after the ghusl.”[Saheeh lighairihi: recorded by Aboo Daawood (250) and Ahmad (6/119)].

Know that this ruling is restricted to ghusl for sexual intercourse (janaabah).
As for other recommended and obligatory ghusl, it is obligatory upon a person to perform ablution [before Salaah]. Performing ghusl to remove minor impurity will not be sufficient for one. And Allaah knows best. So, for other Ghusl, one should make sure he/she performs ablution
before doing any Salaat.
