What we are seeing in Virginia is law enforcement done right. There are important lessons to be learned here and I would like to propose some national changes to the entire legal system. @NationalSheriff
The authority to enforce the law must necessarily include the authority to use dealt force. This is a sacred trust that should be endowed with great caution. No one should have that authority without answering directly to the people they serve. That authority has grown unchecked.
It’s time to push back. I suggest that @COSProject should include a constitutional amendment making the local sheriff the only government official with the authority to authorize the use of force and their deputies the only ones allowed to carry out those orders.
Navy ships stop at the edge of international waters and offload weapons before coming to port. We disarm our protectors in the name of defending freedom but the #IRS
has nearly 5K guns and more than 5 million rounds of ammunition. Why? They are accountants not warriors.
The FBI and CIA have both proven that they can not be trusted with guns. I’d tell you to ask Brian Terry but you can’t. He was killed because of their incompetence. They’ve also proven that power must be separated from politics. They can’t be trusted to remain impartial.
Sheriffs can’t be trusted either but they can be held accountable and their reach is limited so if there is injustice, one might escape to the next county where a fair hearing may be available. The point is that we can elect and replace them fairly easily.
What would this look like? All federal agencies would be disarmed and converted from enforcement to investigative only. They could request warrants and then take them to the local sheriff for enforcement. The federal agencies would pay counties for services and security.
Cities could still have their own police departments but the officers would be approved and deputized by the sheriff of the county in which they serve. No government official should ever be armed while on official business except elected sheriffs and their deputies.
Security at federal facilities and for government officials could be handled by the military and Secret Service authorized with a revision of the Posse Comitatus Act. It’s just a law and doesn’t require a constitutional amendment.
State agencies would also be converted from enforcement to investigative agencies and would be required to rely on the local sheriff for all enforcement. The national guard under the governors would provide state security details just as the military would provide for federal.
For those concerned about corruption causing problems I assure you that it will. It does now. Federal agencies are nearly completely corrupt and we have no power to reign them in. At least with sheriffs, we can vote them out or cross the county line. We can hold them accountable.
State legislatures should have the authority to impeach sheriffs and appoint a interim sheriff while a special election is called. Most coroners are authorized to arrest sheriffs as a check in case corruption is exposed. A county sheriff is easy to watch from above and below.
What do you think? If the government wants to disarm us, it’s probably a good idea to seriously consider disarming them. How about some thoughtful feedback please.

@NationalSheriff
Here are some links to articles, reports and data that I believe support my opinion that the federal and state governments must be disarmed.
