I'm not sure that Congress should even have the power to impeach a President

And that the power should be limited to impeaching federal judges not on the Supreme Court
The impeachment power has allowed the House - alone - to force the Senate to sit through a nonsense trial and hold everyone hostage for three years

Unclear that it should continue to exist
In our new, hyper-partisan world, there will be immense pressure WHENEVER the House is held by a different party than the President to push for impeachment proceedings

Better for the country that those energies be directed towards winning the next election

In state and federal appeals, there are often 70+ pages of briefing to read, accompanied by a record of hundreds of pages

And yet oral argument usually takes 30 minutes - TOTAL - if it's granted at all

Why?

Everyone reads the briefs!
In the briefs, the legal arguments are made formally, with citations

Most cases can be resolved on the briefs

Oral argument hones in on areas of disagreement and ambiguity, where the judges and the lawyers go back and forth to get to the bottom of a tricky issue
But you know what judges hate?

When lawyers just re-read their briefs to them

Because it treats judges like morons, and there's nothing judges hate more than having their time wasted

One very simple explanation for why the base has so uniformly rejected impeachment

Democrats, collectively, have never expressed even the slightest bit of loyalty to the Presidency as an OFFICE so long as it as been held by Donald Trump

They called themselves the RESISTANCE!
That, in and of itself, was a betrayal of the basic American contract

We have elections, and then we have peaceful transitions of power

Democrats breached that contract, and betrayed that trust, as did the #NeverTrump coalition
Now, Democrats and #NeverTrump accuse President Trump of betraying the country in Ukraine

Nonsense, of course

But more to the point - YOU ARE THE RESISTANCE. You are - by definition - disloyal! HOW DARE YOU try to use "loyalty" as an excuse for impeaching the President?

Americans are dangerously uninformed on the impeachment process. The @GOP and the temporary president are desperately trying to USE that to try and change the narrative around impeachment. So here's a quick primer on the process - don't buy their lies. Thread.
1. Impeachment starts in the House. The House impeaches the president, the vice president, judges and other "civil officers" of the United States. This authority comes from Article 2, Section 2 of the Constitution: The House..."shall have the sole Power of Impeachment."
This is basically charging the president with an impeachable offense.

IMPEACHMENT is not the same as REMOVAL.

Think of the house as the DA. They bring charges. The Senate acts as a jury for those charges.

There are NO PROCEDURAL REQUIREMENTS in the constitution.

#FDR promoted the idea that the people of the world, in all nations, shared entitlement to four freedoms: that of the freedom of speech and expression, the freedom of worship, the freedom from want and the freedom from fear.
#FDR is arguably one of the most 'successful' #US Presidents. Some would argue that on the basis of his numerous social policies such as 'the New Deal'. Others, however, would argue that his role during the second world war was more prevalent to his success & everlasting legacy.

Nobody elected, appointed or designated Assangehole to be the arbiter of what is or what is not classified information in our gov't.

We elect our leaders who then determine what is or what is not a state secret and they have very real & good reasons for doing such.
US foreign policy and certainly military & intelligence operations require keeping the bad actors and rogue states out there in the dark about what we're actually doing and what we actually know.

I have to explain this? Fine.
