1) I'm pretty sure the following "revelation" will immediately enrage a lot of people, but if you can exert basic anger-management and read on, it will make sense. I don't identify as a #resister but rather as an #activist.
2) The two things are quite different. Resistance movements usually happen during extremely violent tyrannical rule and consist of several actions from infra-structure sabotage to underground clandestine sharing of information.
3) It usually brings together folks from different ideological approaches to "anti" whatever (anti-fascism, anti-nazism) and it is not uncontroversial.

4) #Resistance movements are necessary because #activism and ACTION are pretty hard under dictatorships.
5) I've been part of an anti-dictatorial #resistance movement in Brazil. Many of ours died in doing so. It was mostly clandestine, we secretly distributed xerox copies of leftist literature and we "recruited" others.
6) This is what #resistance is NOT:
- bitching about the tyrant (it can get you killed)
- sharing outrage
- sharing your feelings about the political opponent

And that is about 90% of what I see in the American #resistance twitosphere.
7) Not to mention the cuddling cultivation of the cozy echo chamber by "follow back parties". This is NOT RESISTANCE - never was, never will be.
8) It bothers me that most #resisters are not engaged in action - whether education, publication or hands-on, political action. Honestly, many believe that the "follow-back" IS resisting. It's mind boggling for someone like me...
9) ... who, at age 15, was given clandestine literature about torture and told to prepare to die without ever, ever seeing any of the products of our fight. I was told to prepare for torture and taught strategies to protect the movement (this is so naive and stupid..).
10) I was told that I would probably die during the violent take-down and I was prepared for that. We all were. THIS IS #RESISTANCE.
11) With concentration camps and horrendous militias deep down in Northwestern USA, the USA is STILL A DEMOCRACY. Therefore, if you are committed to fighting fascism (trump), you must be an #ACTIVIST.
12) But maybe we'll lose. Many may die. And then, a tiny, tiny percentage of the "twitter #resisters" may become true #resisters. Pro-tip: most die and it's not cute.
